BBC Newcastle
This is the visit to the BBC Newcastle that we had so that we could put it down for our silver arts award as we had to put some sort of job industry into our silver arts award and this is what I got for it. It was a really fun trip and below are the photos that I got on the camera that I used.I went to BBC Newcastle to ask them some questions that we wanted to know, we got lots of information of them about the radio and I also got some photos and these are what I got.
This is the first photo that I got as we started the tour, the people who are on this photo is everyone who is involved in the BBC Newcastle news and as you can see there is quiet a lot of people who are working for this radio. The wall is very colourful which makes it look good and you also notice it straight away with the bright colours.
This is the second photo that I took, this was a wall that had lots of information about BBC Newcastle. I think that was a good idea because its interesting and it was also another colourful wall what makes you want to read it.
This was the third photo that I took, as you can see it is a set that is made for a kids Television Programme that is in a spaceship. This bit was really interesting as you got to see the set that they use and you could see how they record things etc.
This was the fourth photo that I took of the news room, the desk is where the presenter sits when on live TV.
And finally this was the last photo that I took, we could only choose 6 photos so these are the ones I wanted to show because they are most interesting and the most popular thing in radio.
1) How have you begin finding work in your chosen area?
I have searched about the subject that I would mainly want to do as I really enjoy it.
2) What education and qualifications do you need?
The qualifications that you will need a degree and would have to either have lessons about it in school or even college.
3) What other qualities as a person would you need to succeed in this area?
Probably some of their past experience so that they know exactly what they are doing so that anyone could just get on with whatever there doing.
4) What kind of careers, pathways and opportunities are available in this area of media?
There are lot of opportunities and careers available in this type of industry as it is a really popuar industry as lots people are involved in it and would love to be a part.
For this part of the Arts Award I needed to show research into the kinds of media that I am interested in:
For this I went on a website and seen what was available in this area not only jobs but apprenticeships etc.
There is other websites that tell you more about any job that you want and they tell you how much the job is worth, how many hours and days that you would work etc.
I done this because I would like to be involved with the media industry because I enjoy making things like trailers, posters, animations and many more so this would be a really big opportunity for me to do. This is why I started to look for things to do to find my way to get involved and it helps it also gets me more excited as well.
I got some more feed back of the people in my class and the feedback that i got of them was good so I knew that the work that I done for my silver arts award was good and presentable for other people to look at.

Research
How do you begin finding work in your chosen area?
To start this search I went on to IMDB and search for Tim Burton as he is my favorite director out of everyone else. When I read this I found out a lot of information about him for example how he got to where he is now and what its like for him. I read that "Tim Burton began drawing at an early age, going on to attend the California Institute of the Arts, studying animation after being awarded a fellowship from Disney, for whom he went on to work." I got this of IMDB, this is how he started to get involved with his work and what made him what he is today! Reading this inspired me and hoping to be able to do the same exact as him but a bit different.
What education and qualifications do you need?
To be apart of the film industry it would be good to have a degree in business or film studies as it would be useful for it. For this job you would have to be very creative as you might have the job at making the script or even helping the actors/actresses by telling them what to do and how to say it etc. For the film industry you would need to know how to use a camera for if you are recording the movie and so that you know what exactly you are doing. You can do work experience before you actually get involved to get more of an idea of what you do and to prepare you for the real thing. I found out about film and video editing that it ins't a starting role in the industry and that it is also common for students or graduates to gain some experience in a role such as a runner. But may also build up the experiences in other areas of media production before moving into editing.
What other qualities as a person would you need
to succeed in this area?
I think that the qualities that you would need to be successful in this area is to be stuck to the work making sure that you would get everything done. Also by being there to have a good attendance, also even if you can multi- task this is good because you could get much more done. Personal skills that you have would be good for this in general. I think that directors are mostly male because its aimed more at males with it being camera work. But females are involved as well.
What kind of careers, pathways and opportunities
are available in this area of media?
In this area of media there are a lot of things that you can get involved with to be honest for example, you could obviously be the director, you could take part in being in different apprenticeships and many more.
If you are a director what else might you do during your
career?
If you are involved with being a director then you could do lots of things during your career for example you could travel the world and record in different places, meet new people etc and I think that this would be a great experience.
This is the feedback that I got of everyone that will be shown below
